A Review from the Fiords
by Tomas Nilsen (Issue 11)

Draw! Apart from being a phrase that has been used in any self-respecting John Wayne movie, it’s also a keyword for analysing Nottingham Forest’s season. Add the words “too” and “many” and add an 's' after “draw”, and you’ll come up with “too many draws”.

Still, I’m actually quite happy. I must say I feared the worst when Platt left, Bart-Williams refused to sign a new contract and the debts were revealed. Forest survived; they played some good football, passed the ball well, and won a few games. Nice.

Still, having been in Europe as late as in 1995/96, I’m sure many of you share my frustrations at being stuck in Division One. Hopefully, not for too long, but I can’t say that I see Forest leaping into the Premiership already next season.

Gillingham. Where’s Gillingham? I have no idea. My only knowledge of Gillingham is that they beat us. So did several other not too well-known sides. Some we drew against. Like Crewe Alexandra.

Highlights? Well, watching Forest beat Coventry at the City Ground live on the telly was nice, and so were the enormous amounts of beer consumed celebrating this win. Waking up the day after wasn’t that nice.

All in all, a season that I won’t remember very fondly, but one that offers some promise for the future. Pick up those sunglasses.
