Where's
the money gone?

Well
after saying Fowler to Man City last week, the deal
simply had to fall through. Rebrov wont join
Fulham either, it looks like. Man U still search for a striker
and Birmingham sign some guy with a huge name (Piotr
Swierczewski, just for the record). Arsenal want Marcos the
Brazil goalie and Spurs are after Ricketts. Bar that, its
been a quiet window (You sound like Big Ron now Mike! -
Ed).
In the big game Manchester United beat Chelsea courtesy of
Forlans late winner. Gudjohnsen put Chelsea one up before
Solksjaer levelled. Forlan then fired home Verons pass and
whipped off his shirt, but managed to get it on again this time!
But Arsenal stay five clear with Henrys hat-trick sinking
West Ham on Sunday. He scored his 1st from the spot as Pires was
fouled. West Ham saw Lomas sent off as a result. Defoe equalised
but Henry stuck two second half goals to hand Arsenal the points.
Dennis Bergkamps elbow in Lee Bowyer however will be what
is remembered. Funny how Bowyer complains when the proverbial
boot is on the other foot...
Newcastle move third with a 2-0 over Man City on Kev
Keegans return to Tyneside. Alan Shearer gave them the lead
after 10 seconds, the second fastest Premiership goal ever,
although it should have been whistled for handball as he charged
down Schmeichels clearance. Bellamy notched the second
after a slick move.
Everton and Liverpool are 5th and 6th. Pool got a 1-0 win
away to Southampton courtesy of Emile Heskeys header, their
1first win in 12 games and Everton beat Sunderland 2-1. McBride
got two, one a spectacular volley after Kilbane had put
Sunderland ahead.
While on
the subject of spectacular volleys...The Ian Woan Goal of
the Week Award goes to Youri Djoarkaeff for his classy
overhead kick as Bolton and Charlton drew 1-1. Charlton had
earlier taken the lead through Mark Fish. Bolton sit 4th from
bottom, two points clear of Sunderland.
WBA move off the bottom after a dire 0-0 away to Leeds.
Thats all I have to say about that game
!
Above the bottom four are Birmingham, who drew 1-1 with
Blackburn. Rovers took the lead from Duffs close range
effort before Andy Todd was sent off. Put plainly, he kicked
Christophe Dugarry up the arse in front of the ref - you are
unlikely to see a clearer red card this season
in fact,
possibly ever.
Stern Johns header gave Brum a share of the spoils.
Fulham beat Boro 1-0 for their first win in ages thanks to a goal
from Sean Davis. To round things off Villa lost 1-0 at home to
Spurs, the only goal coming from Teddy Sheringham.
Now here is the best and worst of the transfer gossip from around and about:
