Those in glass houses...

Here we are again; another defeat, another step further from regaining Championship status at the first attempt. The whole situation has an underlying theme from previous years, but the Premiership is now so far away for Forest it’s not worth discussing.

At the weekend we sunk to the lowest point in my long love affair with Nottingham Forest Football Club, which covers 27 years. I fail to fully understand how such an entrenched rot can start and eat away at a club like it has at Forest. For too long good players have come to Forest and not performed, while other players with a record of underachieving have moved on and become better players elsewhere.

Towards the end of last season I felt the task of keeping Forest in the Championship was achievable, but the right appointment would be key. I must admit to being on the fence when it came to Gary Megson’s appointment. I thought that although it may not be pretty football, survival was all that mattered.

This is when we first saw the drab, toothless football that never took us out of the bottom three for all the time Megson was in charge last season. But then the blame was still firmly at the door of Joe Kinear, with unfit players, poor training and the attitude of the squad being cited by the new manager.

A new season, new players, a new look squad – all made up of Megson signings operating under Megson training and tactics – and it’s still not working. And everybody knows it, even Gary Megson! Joe Kinear must have a smile on his face, not for the plight of Forest, but for the position Gary Megson is now in after everything that was said.

Advice? Well only one bit. It just goes to show Gary, those who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones!
