‘Barry’
by Mandy Barrilow
You waited patiently in line,
Ready for your chance to shine,
In the shadows of a man
But your luck had changed,
Wardy’s back was strained,
The boss picked you...
Gillingham was your first game,
The fans cheered you on your way,
The cheers didn’t last,
They soon turned to gasps,
The ball slipped from your grasp,
Gave us a fright, Oh Barry…
You came for a cross and you dropped it,
You gave it away, Oh Barry
The shot came and you just spilled it,
It was a close shave, Ohhh Barry…
Standing on the edge of the box,
We cringe at every shot or cross,
Your arms start to flail,
Your diving the wrong way,
Everything seems lost,
You’ve dropped another cross, Oh Barry…
Can’t stand the mistakes that you’re makin’,
You fumble the ball, Oh Barry
Your nervous and your hands are shakin’,
You can’t keep your cool, Ohhh Barry…
You’re not a very good stopper,
We need Darren Ward, Oh Barry
Your last game for us was a shocker,
Your technique is flawed, Ohhh Barry…
You come for a cross and you flap it,
And it’s killing our nerves, Oh Barry
You’ve got to learn how to catch it,
Or it’s back to the reserves, Ohhh Barrrryyyyy
