Chris Cohen Exclusive Part 2

In the second part of LTLF’s exclusive interview with Chris Cohen, Chris talks about his grounding in the lower leagues and Andy Cole, amongst other things..

Do you think that having to work his way up from the lower leagues will help him as a player?

I think working my way up from the lower leagues has been fantastic education for me also being at different clubs makes it easier to learn all sides of the game with the various managers i have had and the budgets ,crowds and players etc i have been very lucky to play with players from all leagues and ages including superstars and players from non league and you can learn new things from all of them!

Who was your hero growing up, not necessarily just inside the game?

My heroes growing up were michael owen, alan shearer but most of all steven gerrard i think hes brilliant and if i ever just once get to play against him would be a dream come true for me as i think he is the most complete player in the world

What was your reaction to Commons’ departure to Derby?

I was obviously dissappointed to see kris leave for derby and its a shame as i think all parties wanted something too happen and now i i hope he has a great career because he is a really nice bloke and a good friend! I know he has dissapointed the fans and can completely understand their frustration with him i just hope he personally does well but derby don’t !!

How much of an impact did Andy Cole make on the training ground? What was the players reaction to him leaving?

Coley was a great bloke and his advice was brilliant he was an absoulote legend of the game and it was a shame that he left us so soon after coming but i think he has left a little bit of his knowledge and tips with all the players in our team and we all wish him well for his future in whatever he does!

What influence have the new signings made on the team this year?

The new signings have made a good impact on the team the results as we all know have not been good enough but i think the likes of joe garner, ando, earnie and lynchy have all done well when fit its just a shame we haven’t had them fully fit for the whole season but hopefully there all ok now and ready to help us push up the league

what do you think you bring to the team and do you like playing with a specific player?

I think i bring energy and a bit of creativity to the team although as i said earlier more goals is something that needs to come from me and i really enjoy playing with everyone but one who stands out is perchy because he gives myself and other players a liscence to go forward knowing he is always there to protect us i think he has been fantastic this year

How is the teams morale after a poor run of results?

The teams morale is still good we just need to find some home form and start making the city ground a fortress but we are all friends and there aren’t any egos we know that we have the spirit and ability to get out of this situation

Do you have any thoughts on a proposed move to a new stadium?

I would like to stay in the city grounds fill in the corners and make it an even more intimidating place to come than it is already but if a ground share is going to b better financially for the club and allow for greater funds for players etc. then i wouldnt be opposed to it!

Which of the younger players would you recommend as potential stars?

we have a fantastic youth set up with many good players who im sure will have great careers in the game but the ones who stand out are the ones who have broke through recently the likes of heathy, mark byrne and matty thornhill are doing very well along with a lot of others!

Thankyou all for your support!
