Hi,

I don't know if this is the right way to do this but I have just read your account and was completely moved by it. I'm currently in my third year at University studying a degree in Journalism and I am writing a dissertation on the enduring cost of Hillsborough. The tragic event is very close to my heart and my families so I would very much like to talk to you for my dissertation.

Do you have an email address that I could possibly contact you through? I would very much appreciate your perspective.

Thank you.

This is the first time I've ever read an account of the tragedy from a Forest fan. The bit where you recalled the man with a black coat over his face brought tears to my eyes.

The idea that police were brought in to separate your fans from those that were dying is a sickening thought. Police that could've helped saved lives, because I'm pretty damn sure that your minds weren't set of causing trouble.

Lord knows you're friend could've saved at least one life, if only he and the trained medical staff had been given the chance.

Thank you so much for this, was a real eye-opener and I hope you have or will some day come to terms with what happened 20 years ago.

A very moving and honest account of your experience. I was there that day, I sat 4 rows behind Cloughie who was actually banned from the touchline at that time.

I vividly remember the stretcher with the coat covering the poor guy, that was when I realised what was really happening. I remember pointing it out to my Dad and saying "somebody`s dead! look they`re dead!" I can almost feel that same emotion now as I write this.

We didn`t have a radio and our information was limited until we reached the car. My Dad had a car phone and we immediately called home. It was then that we were told there were several deaths. We immediately tuned into Radio 2 and heard the 72 dead announcement and that thought still cuts me like a knife. I remember getting home that night and could barley acknowledge my wife who had only not gone to the game because she was in the late stages of pregnancy. I remember sitting at the bottom of the garden staring at the fish in my pond but all I could see in my mind was the constant stream of fans with advertising boards running from one end of the Hillsborough pitch to another. That image has never left me and never will, I can still hear the noise which was so strange, the air was silent except for this noise from the Leppings Lane End which I just cannot describe but can still hear so clearly.

I didnt speak for nearly 2 days and vowed never to go to another match again. 20 years later I am still a Forest Season Ticket holder along with my son who was 1 month away from being born on that day and his younger sister. Why? I don`t know, but a part of me felt that is what those 96 would have wanted.

Just in addition, I like thousands or more others will not forget that day or the families and friends of the 96. But, what is unknown is how many others still suffer because of injuries they received on that day. We know of Tony Bland who died from his injuries some 3 years later, but there must still be many people suffering as a result. Maybe this should be brought to attention and my thoughts are certainly with them whoever they are.

Always tried to forget this day. Never can. Your description brought back vivid pictures in my mind. Saw things in an identical way. Can't forget the guy with the coat over his face. Reality bit. Tears still in my eyes.

I thank you for writing this. I cannot put into words how I feel reading it, so god only knows how it must have been for you and the others who were actually there.
