Is Mcgoldrick Bid The End For Blackstock?

Forest Chief Executive, Mark Arthur, has today revealed that Nottingham Forest have submitted a bid in excess of £1 million for Southampton striker, David Mcgoldrick.

The Nottingham born hitman has long been a Forest target, and although not impressing against the Reds for Port Vale during a stint on loan, the Forest bosses seem keen to tie up a deal.

Whilst adding players of good calibre and with different skills can only be a good thing, one can’t help but wonder if this means the end for the transfer hope of Dexter Blackstock. Blackstock endeared himself to Forest fans by playing a huge part in keeping the Reds in the Championship, most particularly and somewhat dramatically with a stunning late winner against Bristol City, to set Forest on the climb out of the relegation zone.

Since it has been more or less confirmed that the Reds have captured Bristol City target man, Dele Adebola, a shrewd signing in my view, the chase for Blackstock looks like it might have one less suitor.

I think it’s fair to say that all Forest fans will be praying that a deal for Dexter can still go ahead, and he can spearhead us to future successes, in a partnership with Earnshaw that looks made in heaven.

If this is true, I for one am not happy. Firstly, why are we offering Southampton in excess of £1m when they are having financial difficulties. Offering in the region of £750k will have probably been accepted.

I speak on behalf of all Forest fans that we would much rather have Blackstock for £1m. His qualities are far better and he’ll score a bagful of goals, unlike McGoldrick!

give the lad a chance. i mean to say southamton went down 14 goals isnt bad. also people are always critisising the board and now a good bid has been put in people still moan. i no the lad has turned us down b4 but i reckon he will be worth the gamble

I expect the new manager of qpr will want to keep the clubs top scorer unless he makes it clear that he wants to come to Forest so we will wait and see.
I certainly hope we get Camp anyway !A year´s loan for gunter, and a Good defender to replace wilson, who just is not good enough,in my opinion.

as an ex-pat i’ve watched him every other week at st marys. the saints fans are always slating him for being lazy and never tackling back, but then again, it was his first full season, and if you can loaf around and still get 14 goals how many can you get with a billy davies rocket up yer ‘arris?

I would much prefer the signing of Blackstock instead of mcgoldrick especially seeing as we have pretty much sold that lump Adebola. Would be great to see gunter stay and Anderson. Lee Camp would be a quality signing!!!!
