| LTLF James Perch Interview Part 2 |
LTLF introduces the second part of an exclusive interview with Nottingham Forest captain, James Perch.
Read part one of the James Perch interview here.
What sports other than football are you good at?
I fancy myself at most sports but the main competition with the lads is table tennis because we have a table at the ground most of us are warming up before training on that for an hour or so.
How do you pass the time on the team bus on your way to away games?
I used to play cards a lot when we were in League One but this year the card school is rubbish like Garner and Earnie so I just sit at the back and get involved in a bit of everything that’s going on.
What’s the best/worst facilities you have come across at an away match?
The best facilities are probably Man City’s, it’s so modern and there is so much space. The worst by far is Southend’s. It’s so small and there is only one shower that works ,I think I went home dirty that day!
Win the European Cup with Forest, or the World Cup with England?
European Cup with forest!
Who in your opinion is the best Forest player at the club?
Wes Morgan is probably the best I’ve ever played with.
Can you explain what exactly happened when you injured your knee in training whilst fetching balls out of the net? How much stick did you get from the lads after you injured yourself?
Towards the end of the League One season it was looking as if we were going be in the play offs so every morning a few of us went to training early everyday to practice. It was my turn in net and as I went to scoop the ball out the net my foot got caught and I followed through and opened my knee joint up. The lads thought it was funny but I don’t think the gaffer was too impressed because I was out for six weeks. I learnt my lesson and haven’t been in net since!
Out of the first team squad you have the most appearances, do players and new signings look up to you as a senior figure within the squad? If not, who is the senior figure?
I think I’m second behind Wes but both of us are still young and still a lot more games to play. Players do look up to the senior ones especially the young ones its important we set a good example for them to follow.
If Soccer AM came to the Forest first-team squad to do ‘Skill School’ who would be the two players involved and who in your opinion would win?!
We haven’t got too many skilled players with tricks but I think Wes would have to be on especially for the fans and the other probably would be Gareth McCleary. He thinks he’s got all the skill in training but even then I don’t think it would make great telly!
