I was there and remember it well. I was standing opposite the main stand and could not belive how some people just sat there as smoke and flames were clearly visible quite close to them. Luckily the fire did not spread too quickly and no-one was hurt.
By the way the score was 1-1 not 1-0 with Dave Hilley scoring for Forest.
I wouldnt imagine the main stand would clear very quickly now in the face of an emergency…very narrow aisles.

What an occasion for my first visit to the City Ground, although I’m sure the score was 1-1.

Remember the day well I was in the Nottingham Police and working at the City ground on the day. I was the copper in the NEP / Guardian without the helmet helping the firey to put out the fire in the stand. The crowd were really great they all exited the stand in a matter of minutes and then stood on the pitch warming themselves. Ah Memories.
