Forest Facing Mckenna Fight
Nottingham Forest’s interest in Preston Captain, Paul Mckenna, has been confirmed by the lilywhites with two bids having been rejected, but the fight is not necessarily over.
Forest have made two bids for the preston midfielder, believed to be between 500 to 800 thousand pounds, but speaking recently, Prestons’ chairman, Derek Shaw has rebuked forest for the way they have expressed their interest;
“I can confirm that we have rejected two bids from Nottingham Forest for Paul McKenna. I am extremely disappointed that Nottingham Forest have chosen to make this public.”
Futhermore, recent developments in the matter have suggested that Forest will be returning with another bid for the talented and hard working central midfielder, however the Preston manager has no knowledge of this;
“The only enquiry we’ve had so far is from Nottingham Forest,” Irvine told BBC Radio Lancashire.
“As everybody knows we’ve rejected that. I’ve no idea what will happen now but I don’t want to lose Paul. We’ve not had any enquiries about other players so at the moment we’ll potentially only have one battle to fight.”
Preston seem determined to keep hold of their captain, but Forest can offer higher wages, a chance to link up with former manager Billy Davies again, as well as joining a progressive club that could be seen to have a bright future.

“…as joining a progressive club that could be seen to have a bright future.”
The guy is 31, has lived in Preston all his life, supported Preston as a lad and is club captain. Being a Preston fan if we get good money for him you can have him, but I don’t think he’ll be joining Forest in the summer.
All he needs to do is look where we finished and where Forest finished. I’m sure he’d rather be captain to a side prushing for promotion than a side that’s fighting at the wrong end of the table.
