Forest In Search Of M & M’s?
Rumour has it that the latest potential signings heading toward the City Ground may be those of Gary Mcsheffrey and Matthew Mills of Birmingham City and Doncaster Rovers respectively. LTLF assesses the potential accuracy of said transfers and the effect they could have on a promising season for the Reds.
Gary Mcsheffrey spent the latter part of the season on loan at Nottingham Forest, and whilst being unimpressive, he was clearly far from fit. There is no doubting the quality of Mcsheffrey who could without doubt return to being one of the best players in the championship.
The rumour seems to have providence, obviously he having been at Forest previously would hopefully give us some sort of advantage in having already persuaded him to come and shown that we rated him, as well as him seeing the good proffesional set up at the club. Alongside this, Billy Davies himself said that Mcsheffrey would be a fantastic signing, and intimated that he may try and do something in the summer regarding the transfer.
I remember in past years thinking that Gary Mcsheffrey was everything that Kris Commons could have been were he more applied, fitter and able to impact on games more consistently. In recent times their fortunes have fluctuated somewhat with Commons being a star player for Derby although with many of their fans suggesting that he has not overcome the percieved lack of effort that makes it difficult to connect with fans, and Mcsheffrey suffering hurrendous injuries. However, somewhere inside there, the player that I once thought might break into an England squad is there, and Gary Mcsheffrey would be a fantastic signing. I’m confident that with a ‘Billy Davies pre season’ under his belt, Mcsheffrey is the sort of player who would take us up the league.
Matt Mills has been a fundamental part of Doncaster Rovers’ success in recent years. He was a vital part of the team that gained promotion through the playoffs, having been disappointed on final day thanks to a Forest win and miracle work from Cheltenham, and was signed after a loan spell from Manchester City. Mills has been a consistent performer again this season and is exactly the player that Forest need. Whilst Wes Morgan has proven himself in the Championship, Breckin has left and Wilson looks less than assured. Whilst Luke Chambers has put in some good performances at Centre Back in recent games, a dominating centre back is needed to fill the boots next to Morgan that haven’t truly been filled since we sold our gem, Michael Dawson to Tottenham. Whilst not suggesting that Mills is a future England centre half, he is a very, very good centre half, and would be a perfect addition.
The providence of the transfer seems fairly unquestioned with sources on the LTLF forum suggesting that various bids have been made, seemingly around the 2 million pound mark, and local and national newpapers not giving up on the story. Hopefully in this case the tabloids are not just speculating and Forest can tie up what would be a fantastic signing.

I think wes morgans a type of player we only need against big slow strong players.
and not agianst fast mobile intelligent players.
So we need like 2 new center backs.
And kelvin wilsons not that bad tbh he just needs a bit of confidence, last season in league 1 he was awesome.
