DISPATCHES: You just won the World Cup, right?

Americans impress Thierry Henry with their football knowledge, Arsenal fans are impressed by stand renaming and Muslims aren’t impressed by Man U shirts…

Yanks for nothing

Thierry Henry must have started to have doubts about his big move to the Big Apple when he gave this interview on American breakfast television.

Clocking on

Some Arsenal fans are excited by the news that the club are rebranding two ends of the Emirates Stadium as the North Bank and Clock End, late of Highbury.

It wouldn’t surprise me if Forest tried a similar thing with the proposed new stadium, except that would mean we’d have a Trent End nowhere near the Trent and a Bridgford End in Gamston…

The Madness of King Cole

Joe Cole’s greed isn’t in doubt after economic differences prompted his move to Liverpool, but some might question his sanity – apparently Mr Cole thinks the Merseyside club, who finished 7th in the table last season, are the biggest in England.

Chíc pea

Manchester United’s new signing Javier Hernandez will wear the name Chícharito on the back of his shirt. It means ‘little pea’ in Mexican, we believe. For some reason it reminds us of when Wigan nearly signed a player called Ponce.

Mind you, if you are a Muslim you will have a good excuse not to wear a shirt with Chícharito on the back as Man United shirts have been banned by Islamic doctrine.

We’ve all been there…

Finally, and this has nothing to do with football, I thought I’d share this story from one of my regular reads, the San Diego Gay & Lesbian Times, which has the best opening paragraph I’ve ever seen.
