Brian Clough website celebrates 10 year anniversary

BrianClough.com, a tribute website founded ten years ago, has received a birthday message of support from Brian Clough’s widow Barbara.

The site was set-up by Marcus Alton in August 2000.

Mrs Clough said: “It’s amazing to think the tribute website is now ten years old. Although Brian was not really from the computer generation, I am sure the website would have made him smile. He certainly thought it was tremendous to receive all the e-mails from fans which were forwarded to him.

“It has been wonderful to know that the site has grown in popularity over the last ten years. Even now, it has visitors from all over the world and fans continue to send their tributes and messages by e-mail.

Barbara Clough and Marcus Alton“It is very comforting to know that Brian is still thought of so fondly by so many people. I would like to send a big thank you to everyone who has visited the site and sent their tributes over the past decade.”

The website sells Cloughie memorabilia to raise money for the Brian Clough Memorial Fund and, along with LTLF, was central to the fund-raising behind the Brian Clough Statue.

Barbara added: “Just as the statue will remain a fitting tribute for future generations, I hope the website will continue to be a success for many years to come.”

Marcus Alton said he was delighted to receive Mrs Clough’s support: “There’s been tremendous interest in the website over the last 10 years. It’s been a labour of love and to receive Mrs Clough’s support is fantastic.”
