An Ode to Darren Deadman

by , February 24, 2011

Inspired by the excellent punning on NFFC Blog.

There’s a dead man walking, walking the pitch
When there’s been contact his nose starts to twitch
He’s got a sixth sense so he always knows
For the least little thing his whistle blows

There’s a dead man walking, walking the park
He likes his games with more stops than starts
He likes the tempo to be dead-beat
When he’s walking the park with his two dead feet

There’s a dead man running, running the show
He’s in charge and he wants you to know
Take your free-kicks from the exact right spot
Or he’ll take out his book and your name he will jot

There’s a dead man walking, walking the pitch
So you know who to blame when your plan comes unhitched
There’s no one quite like him to kill a game dead
That’s why the dead man fills the fans with dread
