Various things

First of all I would like to say congratulations to Billy Davies and Forest for staying up! The Championship has been more difficult than we all first thought and for many times this season our chances of survival have looked bleak.
There have been many lows this season. Losing 2-4 to Doncaster on Boxing day was [...]

vs Coventry City – Player Ratings

Smith 6 – Didn’t have much to do but was nervy when called upon.
Gunter 7 – If we stay up we have to sign him, whether it be on loan or permanent. He clearly enjoys it at Forest and put in another good performance.
Morgan 7 – Another solid performance. Didn’t have to do much to [...]

Nottingham Forest are in talks with Brighton regarding a permanent deal for loan defender Joel Lynch.
According to various papers, Forest have agreed a fee with The Seagulls, believed to be around £200,000.
The 21 year old signed for Forest in late September after handing in a transfer request at the League One club in August.
Due to [...]

Nottingham Forest vs Sheffield United – Player Ratings

Smith 8 – Man Of The Match – Made 2 or 3 good saves and came out and collected numerous crosses. Looked very comfortable.
Gunter 7 – Did well with whatever Cotterill had to throw at him and made a few surging runs forward using his pace.
Wilson 4 -  Was actually playing well but pointlessly got [...]

Nottingham Forest v Bristol City – Player Ratings

Turner 3 – The only reason they scored twice was because of his mistakes. Awful day for him could of been made worse had his other errors cost the team. Davies commented in his post-match interview that he probably shouldn’t have played due to illness but I don’t think he is much of an improvement [...]

Forest unlikely to extend McSheffrey deal

Forest boss Billy Davies hinted in his post match interview at Oakwell that loan player Gary McSheffrey is likely to be sent back to Birmingham.
The Ex-Coventry star was left out of yesterdays squad in the six-pointer against Barnsley which ended in a 1-1 draw and Davies commented on McSheffreys exclusion from the squad:
”I’ll have a [...]

Forest watching N’Guessan

Lincoln City star Dany N’Guessan is reportedly attracting interest from Nottingham Forest.
The left winger, who joined Lincoln from Glasgow Rangers, is being watched by a huge number of Football League scouts.
Although one of those teams is said to be Forest, Doncaster and Sheffield United are also keen on securing his services.
I saw N’Guessan play last [...]

Ex-Derby forward joins Forest

Queens Park Rangers leading scorer Dexter Blackstock has joined Nottingham Forest after much speculation.
The deal looked to be dead as Blackstock, who has scored 11 goals this season, didn’t want to join struggling Forest.
Forest have managed to sign the Ex-Derby forward on loan for the rest of the season and it is thought that if [...]

Blackstock move in doubt

Although Billy Davies is keen to add Dexter Blackstock to his squad, the Queens Park Rangers striker is said to be not so keen.
Davies commented earlier today that he was interested in the forward, who has has been forced out of the side recently at Loftus Road.
”Dexter Blackstock is amongst the players we are looking [...]

What do the Watford fans think?

Despite a successful period under Aidy Boothroyd, Watford fans were relieved to see the back of him. Boothroyd’s tactics had become tiresome and after three seasons of hoofball, Boothroyd left the club.
The board decided to go for an unknown quantity in the shape of Chelsea coach Brendan Rogers. It looked as if Watford had done [...]

Player Ratings – Preston

Smith 6 – Another nervy performance but made some steady saves.
Chambers 7 – Worked well with McCleary but sometimes hoofed the ball unnecessarily.
Morgan 8 – Absolutely solid yet again, will miss him on Saturday.
Wilson 7 – Much more solid than usual, coming back into a bit of form. Still a bit too casual sometimes but [...]

The results are in…

…and Andy Reid has won the award of being the best Forest player since 2000. Reidy won with 20% of the vote with Dawson coming second with 15%. Jenas won the bronze medal, collecting 31 votes. A pleasing 241 of you took part, thanks to everyone who voted.
Obviously these results don’t reflect the views of [...]

The best Forest player since 2000? Vote Now!

Although the last ten years have been far from vintage, we have seen some quality performances from some superb young players who have gone on to forge careers in The Premiership without Forest. For example, Jermaine Jenas is constantly linked with moves to Inter Milan and Michael Dawson is ever present in the Tottenham defence.

What the Brum fans think: Birmingham Preview
We don't like Marcus Bent much..

We don't like Marcus Bent much…

Since I have been a regular follower of football, Birmingham have been a yo-yo club, one season in The Championship, one season in The Premiership. They were relegated on the last day of last season, even though they beat Blackburn 4-0. The first half of their season has been good results-wise but fans are unhappy with Alex McLeish, who failed to keep them up last season.

I decided to contact Birmingham City’s number one blog, Joys and Sorrows, and ask them about their opinions on how Birmingham’s season is going. They also have some kind words for Forest…

How has you season gone so far?

If you look simply at the table, the season has gone OK, we are third, and 6 points behind Wolves with them to still come to St.Andrews, so there is all chances of us catching them. But then there is the performance side of it, we have played very poor at times, and been outplayed home and away by teams who we should be beating on paper. The game at the City Ground was a good case for this, we played well for the first 15 minutes, went a goal up, and looked very good value for it, then the next 75 minutes, we hung on and managed to get a draw. That has been the story all season, and it’s getting to the fans.

Happy with the manager?

On the one hand yes I am. He has brought us to this point where we are still challenging for promotion despite the acrimony behind the scenes, and with mainly free transfers and loans (though with big wage packets which most clubs wouldn’t pay admittedly) he has bought in several decent players and assembled arguably the best squad in this league.
On the other hand, his tactics are too negative at times and his team selections are sometimes absolutely bizarre. There is also the adage that with a squad of players who in the main were playing Premiership football last season, we should be playing nicer football and should be higher up the table.
He has my backing until the end of the season. However if we fail to go up he has to be shown the door.

Who has been your best player so far this season?

Lee Carsley was a breath of fresh air at the start of the season, and will continue to be for the rest of the season. Franck Quedrue has also impressed any time he has played, god knows why Murphy is in ahead of Quedrue. Kevin Phillips has got some vital goals this season, and you know if he is on the pitch you always have a chance of getting a goal.

Who has been your worst player this season?

Marcus Bent, do Forest want him, I’ll drive. It puzzles me to why McLeish bought him in the summer. He really doesn’t care and has poor attitude which is showcased in his body language.

Views on Forest

I’ve always quite liked forest, and I don’t even know why! Maybe its because T.Francis played for you and Brian Clough was just a genius. Although, when I went to your ground earlier this season the accommodation so to speak wasn’t great and considering it was a ground for euro 96 it was very poor.

What do you think the score will be?

We will struggle to a 1 0 win, with McLeish praising the players battling qualities and persistence, even though we would have been outplayed for 90 minutes.

2:1 Birmingham

Blues 3-0 Forest

2-0 Blues, Bouazza and Phillips.

Don’t care, as long as we ENTERTAIN.

Birmingham 3 – 1 Forest
Sinclair, Phillips, Fahey; Tyson

Blues will win, we’re at home with hopefully a decent crowd behind the team. It may prove to be a fiery encounter on the pitch as I remember your captain verbally attacked blues in an interview by saying that our players wanted to go home after half and hour and they weren’t up for it. To which carsley (our captain) replied that the team won’t forget what he said and they will look forward to the return fixture.

Good luck for the rest of the season
