Go West: Coventry City v Nottingham Forest preview

Nottingham Forest make the short trip across the midlands this evening to face Coventry City at the Ricoh Arena. The Reds got back to winning ways on Saturday, beating Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 thanks to Dexter Blackstock’s brace.

The victory was a much needed antidote for the doom and gloom around the City Ground following the previous week’s defeat at the hands of local rivals Derby County and it means Forest have still lost only once in 21 league games.

Paddy Power Forest vs Derby Build Up

The start to the season won’t have the Forest fans dreaming of Premier League football but Billy Davies is in a very positive frame of mind and asks only for a little bit of time for his “wonderful group of players” to gel. Beating Middlesbrough in the Carling Cup won’t have done the manager’s sanguine frame of mind any harm.

Davies counts down the days

Billy Davies will again be without key defenders for the big clash with Derby, but feels Forest are showing enough to prove they are heading in the right direction to increase their Championship football odds.

Despite picking up just two points from their opening four league games, Davies’ men showed they are capable of mixing it with the best in the division when they inflicted Middlesbrough’s first defeat of the season.

Billy bides his time

Billy Davies insists he won’t be forced into any rash moves in the transfer market before the window closes, despite the current defensive crisis at the City Ground.

Forest are without Julian Bennett, James Perch and Kelvin Wilson through injury and now face being without Luke Chambers after his sending off at Reading.
