Player Sponsorship
During the 2008/09 season, LTLF is the official sponsor of Robert Earnshaw’s away kit. The money for this sponsorship was raised primarily thanks to forum members who paid to become Star Members, plus revenue from our advertisers and items sold or auctioned by LTLF.
On this page you will find information about the on-going campaign to raise money to continue this sponsorship next season (either with Rob or another player) and how to become a Star Member.
How much does it cost to sponsor a player at Forest?
For the 2008/09 season, basic kit sponsorship costs just under £600, including VAT. This is our target for this year’s campaign.
How will the money be raised?
We will be raising money in a number of ways, including competitions, products for sale, internet auctions and advertising (such as the adverts you see on this page). However, the primary method of raising funds will our Star Membership scheme.
What is Star Membership?
Star Membership lets existing members of the forum get ‘Star’ status. This entitles them to special privileges, including access to a special board on the forum, a say in issues surrounding the player sponsorship and fund-raising, and the opportunity to win exclusive prizes.
How much does Star Membership cost?
Star Membership costs £6 per person for existing forum users. Existing Star Members who signed up before May 2008 can renew their membership for the 2008/09 season for £5 using a link posted in the Star Members board on the forum. If you became a Star Member after May 2008, you do not need to renew your membership.
How will the money be used?
The primary aim of the campaign is to raise enough money to sponsor a player during the 2009/10 season. Some of the income will be reinvested into the campaign for competition prizes and other money-making ideas. Any additional profits raised by the campaign will be donated to charitable causes. No money raised through the Star Membership scheme will go towards maintaining the site - this is done through different revenue streams.
How do I become a Star Member?
Use the form below to pay £6 to LTLF using the secure PayPal checkout system, remembering to tell us your forum username. We will then change your status on the forum to give you access to the Star Members area.
If you are already a Star Member, see the Star Members board in the forum for details on renewing.
Does this mean we now have to pay for the forum?
No. The LTLF forum is, and always will be, absolutely free.
Is the payment secure?
Yes, very. PayPal is one of the safest methods of sending money over the internet. You don’t have to register with PayPal if you don’t want to. All you need is a credit card or a PayPal account in credit.
Can I pay by cheque?
Yes. Make your cheque for £6 payable to LTLF and post to LTLF, 125 Shelford Road, Radcliffe-on-Trent, Nottingham NG12 1AZ. Remember to include a note with your real name, address and forum username!
What happens if you don’t reach the target of £600?
In the event that we don’t raise enough cash to sponsor a player (touch wood) and following a vote by Star Members to officially close the campaign, all Star Membership fees will be refunded, minus a small admin fee to cover the cost of the PayPal service.
How long will it take to make me a Star Member?
We’ll try and do it as soon as possible but it depends on when we receive your payment. We will aim to change your status on the forum within 48 hours. It will take a few days longer to process cheque payments.
Do I have to be registered on the forum to contribute?
No, but if you’re not a member of the forum you will not be able to access the Star Members area and get all the benefits of the Star Membership scheme. Plus you’ll be missing out on all the fun of the forums, so why not sign up anyway?
Where can I find out about further developments of the player sponsorship campaign?
Regular updates will be posted on the forum and on this page, including a running total.
