Forest
fan killed in Burnley
09/12/02 | News
The thoughts of Forest fans are with the family of
Nathan Shaw after the 17-year-old died from stab wounds sustained
before Saturday's game in Burnley. Both clubs and fans have
offered their sympathies over the weekend. Nathan suffered stab
wounds, believed to be from a bottle, in a bar just hours before
the match. He died in hospital later in the day.
A 19-year-old man from Burnley has been arrested and will be
questioned today.
This tragic incident is a stark reminder that football should never
be more important than the life of a young man and that violence
of all kind is totally unacceptable in today's society. Rumours
that Nathan was involved in Forest's hooligan circle should be
treated with caution until the full facts of this case are
revealed, and we should not rush to lay out blame or act in
'revenge'.
