Jim Brennan
| 1999 - 2003 | Defender | 131 (6) games | 1 goal |

Brennan
was one of David Platts earlier signings, joining from
Bristol City in a £1.5m transfer. But the Canadian left-back
took a while to live up to his transfer fee. He initially faced
competition for his place from Alan Rogers and Keith Foy, but as
the squad was cut during the 2001/02 season he established
himself as a regular performer under Paul Hart.
He combined his ever-present pace with new-found confidence and
proved to be a useful player on the left wing where Forest
struggled to find options. In the 2002/03 season he formed a
strong relationship with midfielder Andy Reid and the pair proved
to be a potent attacking force down the left side.
Jim's contract expired in the summer of 2003. Forest offered him
a new deal, but the Canadian opted to sign for First Division
rivals Norwich City instead. Some believe his departure was
hastened by Paul Hart who had already signed a replacement in the
form of Davy Oyen, while others think it was simply a matter of
money that persuaded Brennan to leave.
