Marlon King ![]()
| 2003 - | Forward | 25 (1) games | 6 goals |
Less than a week after Marlon Harewood was sold to West Ham for £500,000, Paul Hart was able to bring his replacement. King joined Forest from Gillingham for £950,000 in November of 2003. King has scored 47 goals for the Gills and at 23 was considered a strong prospect.
However, he started poorly, struggling to fill the boots left by Harewood. It didn't help that he joined Forest during their worst period of form since they were relegated from the Premiership, but on top of the poor service he was receiving from the midfield, he himself looked uninterested and often decided not to chase balls that he could have easily reached.
His performances did improve slightly when Joe Kinnear became manager in February, but he still has a lot to do to endear himself to the fans. His record with Gillingham shows that he has the talents to succeed, but he needs to apply himself more effectively if he is to find the same form with Forest.
