Tony Vaughan
| 2000 - 2003 | Defender | 41 (5) games | 1 goal |

Tony
Vaughan arrived during the final leg of David Platts first
season, first spending a spell on loan from Manchester City,
before making the move complete at the end of March. He made an
immediate impression on the fans and the manager alike and made
himself into a first-team regular very quickly.
Tony was a hard-hitting player, strong in the air and on the
floor, but his distribution was fairly poor. He added an element of
grit to the Forest defence that had been missing since Stuart
Pearce left the club. Like Pearce, he often found himself at the
wrong end of the referees cards but still remained a firm
favourite among supporters.
He landed himself in bad books in the 2000/01 season when David
Platt became frustrated at having one of best defenders
constantly suspended and put him on the transfer list in January.
No-one moved for Vaughan, but under Paul Hart Tony couldn't get
back into the team and only made six starts and three substitute
appearances, in which he managed to pick up an amazing five
yellow cards. He spent the last months of the season on loan at
Scunthorpe and moved to Motherwell in January 2003.
