There’s a famous song that has been sung about two enigmatic and iconic figures of the 20th century. It talks about legends living on long after the person themselves has died. Elton John never sang about Brian Clough, but eight years since his death the legend of Old Big ’Ead is, for those of us passionate about our football, still as strong as those of Marilyn Monroe and Diana, Princess of Wales. The only difference is, Brian Clough wasn’t a candle in the wind – he was the wind.
Rest in peace, Brian. Your legend will never burn out.
