Joel on the dole

July 3, 2012

Joel Lynch, arguably our best-performing player for most of last season, has seemingly been released by the club after his contract expired.

He wrote on his Twitter account yesterday “unemployed then…….better go an sign up”.

His account (@JJL33) has since been deleted from Twitter.

Lynch had been with the club for four years since signing on loan from Brighton in the 2008/09 when Forest were scrapping against relegation, just as they were during his final year as well. A player who certainly had his doubters, but last season he showed he could do a job when he finally got a chance to play at centre-back rather than full-back as he had been forced to do in the past.

Good luck in your future career, Joel, and we hope you won’t be on the dole too long… at 24 you might end up with your housing benefits being taken away if David Cameron gets his way!

In other out-of-contract defender news, Luke Chambers looks set to sign for Ipswich, pending a medical.
