Now comic singer-songwriter Harry Lime (who we thought was just a black marketeer played by Orson Welles, but clearly gets about a bit…) has penned this little ditty, dedicated to ‘Forest fans everwhere’:

So, what next? If we’re going to continue to raid the McCartney oeuvre for comic effect at the expense of our local rivals, surely ‘Penny Lane’ is crying out for a Notts County re-write…

Sir Brian

There’s a famous song that has been sung about two enigmatic and iconic figures of the 20th century. It talks about legends living on long after the person themselves has died. Elton John never sang about Brian Clough, but eight years since his death the legend of Old Big ’Ead is, for those of us passionate about our football, still as strong as those of Marilyn Monroe and Diana, Princess of Wales. The only difference is, Brian Clough wasn’t a candle in the wind – he was the wind.

Rest in peace, Brian. Your legend will never burn out.
