Field Notes

August 12, 2013

  • Nottingham seems to be under threat of another outbreak of optimism as the Reds’ quality signings and perfect start to the season lifts our hopes of a strong season. A win at Blackburn that was both sweet and fully deserved, settled by Darius Henderson’s opportunistic goal, meant most of the pub talk over the weekend was about completing the squad with a 20-goal striker to fire us to promotion, though some think we could still prosper with goals from midfield.
  • While things have started as well as could be hoped for the men’s team, Nottingham Forest Ladies are once again on the brink of going out of business. Hopefully a sponsor can be found in time to save the club (last year Fawaz Al-Hasawi stepped in at the last moment) as Forest ought to have a ladies side during what could be an exciting era for the women’s game.
